Hello! In case you missed it.. My name is Vanessa Van Dyke. I would like to take this moment to share and reflect on where I started, and what I have overcome despite the adversity.
Moving Forward
Despite an injustice turn of events, it inspired my mom and I to create our own haircare line that embraces inclusivity and the beauty of all hair types. As a brand ambassador of Vanessa's Essence, I am proud to provide a voice to those in need and shed light on self-care.
Where it started..
In 2013, I was faced with an unfortunate adversity. My private Christian school claimed my hair was a distraction and if I didn't cut or straighten it I would be expelled. Standing up for my rights I continued my education as a home-schooled student.
Now & Looking Forward
Knowing the sky is the limit, I have reached for the stars and had the honor of becoming a 2x first runner-up for Miss Georgia USA 2022 and 2023! Dedicating time and hard work, I have been blessed with the opportunity to compete in Miss Georgia USA 2024 where I hope to use this new platform to build my own young women's mentorship to instill confidence and provide a safe place for youth.
